Children's Worship

Children's Worship Most Sundays, 10:00 a.m. in Tarpley House

(No Children's Worship during summer months)

This very special worship, designed specifically for children aged 3 through 2nd grade, is a time to focus on God's love and how we worship God is guided by Catherine Carroll and parent volunteers.

Service includes:

  • Printed picture program
  • Opening songs and prayers
  • Bible story, and a psalm verse.
  • Sharing blessings and thanksgivings
  • Writing prayers on our new white board prayer wall
  • Passing the peace
  • Sung doxology at the offering
  • Lord's Prayer
  • Sign of the cross and more singing.

Each child is invited to take a turn at ringing the bell to call us to worship, lighting the candles, passing out the service leaflets, carrying the cross in our procession or bringing up the offering in “big church.” Older volunteers from the junior and senior high groups, along with parents often stay to worship and help the children.

Recently, our first Sunday worship began on the outdoor temporary labyrinth where all the children, parents and volunteers had space to gather. The service also included an Epiphany procession for everyone in “big church” where the children dressed as kings and queens and brought gifts for the Food Pantry to the baby Jesus.

This spring we have walked a small 5-circuit labyrinth to act out some of the Bible stories such as the Transfiguration, The Temptation of Jesus, and Abraham traveling to the land God showed him.
Children join their families in the church as the Peace is exchanged.
