  • To be willing to serve at any of the Sunday celebrations of the Eucharist or any other celebrations of the Eucharist and at special services.

  • Determine if the lector assigned to the service has arrived. If not, one of the LEMs may be called upon to read the lessons.
  • Assist in the administering of communion.
Acolytes
These are the people who serve at the altar in various roles during a service. They range in age from 7 to 70 and serve as crucifers and torch-bearers to help make our worship experience complete. They also offer assistance to the priests, and deacons who lead the services.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God from the Old and New Testaments and lead the Prayers of the People.

Ushers

The ushers play a vital role in welcoming people to our services. In many cases, the ushers are the first person to greet people on their way to worship, it is, therefore, extremely important that they make a good first impression of St. Mary's. In addition to handing out the service bulletins, the ushers must also be willing and able to assist anyone who either needs directions or needs assistance with going to communion, or just wants to have someone to talk to. All in all it is a very rewarding ministry.

  • Set up the Altar for Sunday services one weekend per month, as well as any other services which occur during that week.
  • Launder and iron soiled linens used on the Altar.
  • Clean and polish silver and brass pieces on two clean-up days per year – before Easter and Christmas.
